Understand This Threat To The USA

My name is John White and I am the host of the Worldwide Threat Podcast. We are going to discuss socialism as a threat with author and podcaster William R. Douglas. William is going to share with us how socialism is a real thing now and in the future and how we are able to prepare for this threat. His novel, The Sum of All Our Anger: Civil War 2.0 offers up a frightening scenario in the year 2061 when an openly socialist president takes office. By executive order, cancels the founding documents since they were authored by white supremacists. William, welcome to the show. Please tell us a little bit about your history, and how you got led to write this book, The Sum of All Our Anger, Civil War 2.0.

John, it's great to be on the show. It was great talking to you off-camera, and also prior to booking the show. I want to thank you for the opportunity. I'm Arthur William R. Douglas. This is my second novel. I wrote my first novel in 2016 and got it out to the world in 2022. Last summer, with the deteriorating domestic political situation, I knew I had to write a second novel that would be focused on what could happen in the future if our divisions continue. Here's the end product.

You are a professional. I understand we have enough time to chat about what you do. In fact, I think probably you've been around things more than me or some of my audience where you would actually see socialism in action. My next question is, tell us your experience of what you believe is the best way to protect our families, friends, and businesses from socialism happening in this country.

There's an old proverb from the scriptures that says, might people perish for lack of knowledge? I think it's really important for genuine patriots, regardless of political affiliation, to obtain knowledge as to what exactly is going on behind the scenes in Washington and academia and the entertainment industry, the media. All up and down the line.

Where is the real threat to our Republic? I know currently the rage in the mainstream media, of course, from a particular political candidate is that the threat to our democracy, our Constitutional Republic is from the right. They're trying to take a significant portion of Americans and trying to relabel them as fascist, which is an absurd accusation. You could probably do another whole podcast episode on that.

The Real Threat Of Socialism And Marxism

The real threat I believe is from the extreme left, from the socialists and Marxists that inhabit every major power center in the country are a growing and existential threat towards the preservation of our constitutional Republic. I take that idea in the novel, and I run it forward by 37 years in the year 2061 when the proverbial kettle can no longer hold the pressure and it all blows sky high.

That's amazing. You're almost a prophet in our time, brother. It's an amazing thing. Just for a second, discuss a little bit more about the novel and tell us a little bit more about how you see these kinds of threats in big company culture.

I worked for a major aerospace company and I've been following the whole progressive leftward drift that's been going on in corporate America. I think anyone can see it and if they cannot, they can certainly find it if they do their own research. You see this leftward drift, you see it in policies, you see it in company statements and company posturing.

Of course, lately, you've been seeing a lot of companies saying, "We're going to dump this because this is not working for us. I won't name them, but you can certainly find them to do your research. If you're all aware of those stories of companies ditching PEI policies and other left-progressive ideology that really had a negative effect on the culture of the company and for the stockholder on the company bottom line, which is what the stockholders are most concerned about.

What went through my spirit about this is, do you see or do you believe that the concept of woke is a form of socialism?

Yeah, absolutely. In doing my research, it's clearly ripped right out of the pages of Marx's books. All he did was replace class with race and gender. There are even people that have come here legally from communist countries, justifying before Congress that I recognize what this is, this is what we had in China, this is what we had in other countries. This is Marxism, it's all it is. It's just the same tired old Marxist ideology. Again, class is replaced with gender and also this political ideology. It's crazy.


The funny thing is we're living and I'm a 74-year-old man, and I've never seen anything like this in our country. What I did notice is that people are asleep to the idea of what this does. They think that socialism and communism is a good thing. They don't even realize it. You've heard the story about the frog in the water. If you want to get rid of a frog, you just put him in a pan and turn up the water slow and then he'll just die and not realize it's happening to him. I'm a little concerned that that's what's happening here.

That's where my novel, I think, can be an instrument in the hands of the right people. Once you read the scenario that's laid out in the novel and become aware because there are a lot of touch points from current events that are woven into the novel. It was really eerie as I was writing the novel, the number of times a news story would come out they're like, "I just wrote about that in my novel." Here it is. It was life imitating art. Look in Venezuela. There's a modern example of socialism and how a formerly once very prosperous country is in ruins. Millions of their citizens are streaming across into our southern border illegally, including very nasty people.

We have a gentleman that we're going to interview soon that he actually lives in Denver, Colorado, and there's a big battle going on with Venezuelans right there now.

I just verified it, but it's supposed to be a train wreck. Finally, I'd like to ask you this. In a couple of minutes, just recap for my audience and try to keep it simple. What we can do on a day-to-day basis to prepare and receive peace over these kinds of threats?

Practical Steps For Individuals To Prepare

As a man of faith, obviously prayer and our common Judeo-Christian heritage. For me, I'm a Christian. I think we have to lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge Him and let Him direct our paths. Obviously, our path would be to seek peace, to love one another as He has loved us, to remember the golden rule, to pray for our leaders, no matter how minor or major they are from the local area up into Washington, and to pray for our country, especially for the election day coming up here in a week that good people in the faith would do the right thing and vote for the candidate whose policies most closely align with scripture. Of course, for me, I think it's pretty easy. It's going to be Donald J. Trump.
